MLM Leader Doesn't Mean Do It By Yourself, Delegation and Partnership = Multiplication!

What Do Those Two Words Have To Do With Network Marketing?
(I heard you ask)

Lets examine the two words first:

partnership is an arrangement where entities and/or individuals agree to cooperate to advance their interests. In the most frequent instance, a partnership is formed between one or more businesses in which partners (owners) co-labor to achieve and share profits or losses. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

How to apply that is to look at your recruiting, if you are truly trying to build a long term business then it has to be about partnership and team. What can you do to help that person build their strong network? What I see often is competition, which is so totally wrong because it is me-focused. Eventually it will lead to the deterioration of that bond between you and the new distributor. So it must be about them, what is their goals, and what do they want to achieve.

Delegation (or deputation) is the assignment of authority and responsibility to another person (normally from a manager to a subordinate) to carry out specific activities. However the person who delegated the work remains accountable for the outcome of the delegated work. Delegation empowers a subordinate to make decisions, i.e. it is a shift of decision-making authority from one organizational level to a lower one. Delegation, if properly done, is not abdication. The opposite of effective delegation is micromanagement, where a manager provides too much input, direction, and review of delegated work. In general, delegation is good and can save money and time, help in building skills, and motivate people. Poor delegation, on the other hand, might cause frustration, and confusion to all the involved parties. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

I like this definition because again I see both the good and the bad in the network marketing industry.  A partnership and a delegation is an agreement to help each other, without that we do not have an effective business. You know that old saying "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink?" That especially applies here, you cannot force, you can't even actually close. But you can be the one they trust enough to follow!

Wrapping It Up!

Network marketing is actually a process of building leaders, the biggest thing that must happen is a building of the newly recruited "partner" to the point where they become a leader. They must be empowered and supported through the process. Delegation is a part of that process. It is a step-by-step process and it is with the total cooperation of the partner. If at any time that person puts on the brakes, then we can not push or pull to make that happen, they must be in control of their own progress. We as leaders make the process accessible and doable for them to follow.
